Perspectives from Management: an interview with Irene Koeppel

Irene Koeppel

Irene Koeppel has strengthened the management team of Würth Finance International B.V. since 2025. With her international experience, solid financial expertise and a clear stance on leadership, she heads the company’s main office in Den Bosch and brings new impulses to the leadership team. In this interview, she speaks about her fascination with the Würth world, her impressions of Würth Finance’s corporate culture, and what matters most to her in her role as a leader.

Irene, what motivated you to become part of the Würth world?

I was impressed by the unique combination of entrepreneurial freedom and the strong value orientation within the Würth Group. The presence of the Würth family – especially Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Reinhold Würth – is tangible and shapes a truly distinctive corporate culture. This blend of decentralisation and family-driven values immediately resonated with me.

And how do you experience Würth Finance International B.V.?

I perceive Würth Finance International B.V. as an independent entity with a clear role within the Group. At the same time, we are constantly challenged to convince our internal clients – the Würth companies – over and over again. This dynamic, service-oriented approach defines our corporate culture: openness, personal responsibility and constructive exchange are lived realities here – and that is exactly what I appreciate.

What role does client orientation play in your work?

Client orientation is a key success factor for me. The companies of the Würth Group can choose whether to work with us, and that’s precisely why we must convince them through our performance and service. I want to understand what the Group companies truly need and how we can support them in the best possible way so they can focus on their core business. That is why it’s important to me to gain insight into the end customers’ perspective as well – such as by regularly accompanying the Würth field sales team on customer visits.

What does good leadership mean to you?

For me, good leadership means empowering people and giving them the stage. From a leadership perspective, I have done my job well when, at some point, I am no longer needed. It is important to me that work is also enjoyable and that we achieve things together. My goal is to create an environment where performance and enjoyment go hand in hand, and where people can realise their potential.

What would you like to achieve in the coming years?

My aim is to further strengthen Würth Finance International B.V. as a reliable competence centre for treasury topics – so that the Würth companies naturally turn to us when new challenges arise. At the same time, I would like to foster a working environment in which our employees pursue shared goals with enthusiasm and commitment, regularly scrutinise our processes, use new technologies to become more efficient and better at the same time, and actively contribute to the ongoing development of our company.
