The Central Settlement business unit is responsible for handling the accounts payable by the Group companies to their goods suppliers, as well as for the factoring activities (intercompany payments) within the Würth Group. We act as the payment factory of the Würth Group and have at our disposal state-of-the-art payment infrastructures (own SWIFT connection, SEPA payments), for which we won the Adam Smith Treasury Award for Best Practice and Innovation in 2010.
In addition, we look after the SEPA-compliant master data maintenance on behalf of the Group companies. This enables us to ensure that payments are made in the safest and most cost-effective way. This central settlement service is offered to the Würth companies free of charge and also serves, among other things, to concentrate Group liquidity.
Furthermore, by concluding a Central Payments Management Agreement, suppliers of goods to the Würth Group have the opportunity to entrust us with the task of collecting outstanding invoices vis-à-vis Group companies on their behalf.
To date, more than 6,000 suppliers and over 50% of the volume of supplier payments are already being channelled through this central settlement system. Companies that have concluded a Central Payments Management Agreement are obliged to carry out their payment transactions to these contractual suppliers solely through Würth Finance International B.V.
